Will coolsculpt work for you?

There are many body sculpting programs around and Coolsculpt by Zeltiq is one of them. It was the first FDA approved machine which targets stubborn fats and eliminates them through a freezing method called cryolipolysis.

Coolsculpt has interesting beginnings. The scientists developed the concept of fat freezing after observing small children having dimples from repeatedly sucking ice popsicles. Since then, they found that it was an effective way of removing fat cells from the body where it is not wanted.

So will it work for you? What are the things you should consider before you commit to this treatment?

It will work for those who are generally slim but have bulging areas such as tummy, arms, love handles, buttocks and thighs. Remember, it is not a weight loss machine. It only targets a single area per treatment. If you are overall overweight, you need to make healthy changes to your diet and increase exercise as well.

It is ideal for those who doesn't want invasive surgeries such as liposuction to remove their fats. Majority of patients have fear of complications from surgery. My advice is; try non invasive methods first. If it is not able to get you your desired results then you may consider invasive procedures later on.

It will not suitable for patients who have visceral fat instead of subcutaneous fat. Think of people with a pot belly. Some of them have round tummies because of visceral fat (fat in the internal organs such as fatty liver). When you pinch their skin, you do not find much subcutaneous fat (external). Coolsculpt and even liposuction will not work for such cases. They need to cut down on their calories intake (usually alcohol) and exercise to lose the visceral fat.

You need to be patient to see results. Repeated treatments of one area are usually necessary. It takes at least 2-3 months to see the first reduction of fat. Most patients see 15-30% of fat reduction in the treatment area; this may vary for individuals.

I have tried coolsculpt on myself and find that it works very well for me. It is able to eliminate the flabby areas which I can't seem to get rid of after delivery of my baby.
