Guide to Holiday Fun at Walt Disney World: Christmas at Disney

It’s the most wonderful time at the most magical place on Earth! We love Christmas at Disney World and it’s way more than just sparkly decorations and a festive Christmas party. If you’re visiting during Christmas time, here’s my ultimate guide to holiday fun at Walt Disney World Resort.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

The best way to celebrate Christmas is at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. This special ticketed event happens on select nights at Magic Kingdom, so be sure to plan in advanced. Including a special parade, holiday fireworks, lots of yummy treats, exclusive characters and short ride wait times, this event is an incredible way to celebrate the holidays. Christmas at Disney Springs

Disney Springs has lots of free holiday fun! Visit the whimsical Christmas Tree Trail. We enjoy walking through because each tree is decorated in the theme of a Disney movie. Meet Santa Claus with a virtual line queue so there are minimal wait times. There is also Florida (fake) snow, dance parties, shopping promotions and more. Holidays Around the World

Epcot hosts the International Festival of the Holidays starting November 18th. Including special food and beverage menu items and holiday traditions from around the world, this festival is a can’t miss. We love meeting Santa & Mrs. Claus in America, Pierre Noel in France, Belle in her Christmas dress and more holiday themed characters. The Candlelight Processional performances tell the story of Christmas with a celebrity narrator, a 50-piece orchestra and a full choir—presented 3 times per night from November 22 through December 30, 2018.

For the kids, Chip & Dale  have a Christmas tree ornament scavenger hunt ($6.99 to purchase the map) and includes a fun prize for completion. Even Illuminations, the nightly firework show has an extra festive holiday finale.

Gingerbread Houses on Display

Holiday decor is at it’s most beautiful on display at Walt Disney World Resorts. November 21st is National Gingerbread Day and Disney celebrates like no other. With huge gingerbread houses on display, these stunning works of art are a must see. This is the 20th anniversary of the life-size gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. They typically have daily demos to learn how to decorate a house yourself. You can find even more gingerbread displays at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Epcot and Disney Springs.

We love visiting Disney during the holidays because there is so much to see and do. What’s your favorite?
