Everyday Carry (EDC) for Daddy

It's the very first time that I have a guest blogger, and it's none other than my husband! I've been trying to pick his brain about fatherhood tips, and he finally gave in. For starters, let's read about his everyday carry (more popularly known as EDC).

Everyday Carry for me is what it sounds like -- what I carry on my person every day. It's based on my personal knowledge, needs and preferences.

The most important thing for my EDC is Functionality, If I happen to like how it looks or feels, those are nice-to-haves.

The next things I consider for my EDC are Coordination, Balance, and Flexibility.
  • Coordination: How do i make my baby's experience with me as seamless as possible?
  • Balance: How easy is it to carry, deploy/use, and put away?
  • Flexibility: How easy is it to scale my gear up or down depending on my needs?
After doing lots of research (and with the help of my mom), I chose the Timbuk2 Stork Diaper Messenger Bag.

I have loved messenger and cross-body bags since middle school and continue to do so. In short, I picked the bag because this is based on one of the best (in my opinion) messenger bag platforms out there right now (Timbuk2 messenger classic) and has a few features specific to babies that make it even better for my needs.

In the bag, i carry my general EDC (phone, wallet, powerbank) and the following:

Feeding: Happy Baby Puffs in Snack Catcher, 2 packs of Happy Baby Wafers, 3 servings of formula or breastmilk (breastmilk is stored in bag with ice packs), Kara 4-in-1 Nursing Cover, Silicone Bib with Food Catcher, 1 Pigeon Peristaltic feeding bottle, Cradle bottle cleaner (transferred into a travel container), Sippy cup with water, and Sip2Go Silicone Sippy Lid (perfect for restaurants)

Clothing, 2 onesies, 1 short sleeve one long pants, 1 hoodie, and footwear

Nature Call: Huggies Pull-ups, Huggies wipes, and changing pad (comes as part of the bag)

Safety: Tiny Buds Rash Cream, Tiny Buds After Bites, Cerave Moisturizer, Grooming Kit, Messy Baby Hand Sanitizer, Burtsbees Lipbalm (safe for babies), and other meds as per child's needs.

Mobility & Comfort:  Pacifier Holder, binky (including backup), Ngat2 (the teether/toy), Ergo baby carrier, or Baby Zen Yoyo Stroller (optional as my wife prefers baby-wearing)

Whenever my wife and I go out or travel with the baby (on short trips) we usually have some combination of the items listed above, but the diaper bag typically has everything in it including the optional stuff at all times so I can just throw it in the car then we're off.

Thanks for reading!
