Top Sunsets Around the World

There is nothing so beautiful as a sunset. Every night, my family and I look out to see what kind of sunset it might be. We are waiting to see that orange glow and whether the clouds and colors will make it an amazing sunset. My daughter claims that the best Sunsets are a combination of the weather, the air quality, and where you’re standing.  We’ve traveled the world, and we have found that sunsets around the world can have something unique.

We have surveyed our readers and experts and made a list of the best sunsets. One could find them around the world. If you are a fan of amazing orange, pink, and purple hewed skies, a twilight, then maybe you would like to see some of these best sunsets ever.

Kauai sunset

1. Kauai, Hawaii

We absolutely fell in love with Kauai. It is definitely not typical Hawaii in any way, as it is so based in nature. In addition, nearly every turn seems to somehow magically be facing that perfect sunset. If you’ve never been to Kauai, do not stop but run to go see their sunsets. You can feel free to check out our Top Kauai sunsets list.

2. Santorini, Greece

Santorini itself is a magical destination, overlooking a volcanic atoll, where every view seems more unreal than the next. All of the buildings have that white and blue color scheme, and there is truly nothing in the way of the beautiful sunsets.

3. Sunset Beach, Oregon

So many people quoted sunset beach to us, how could we not include this on the list? First of all, what makes it magical is it has Haystack Rock which you might’ve seen in the movie The Goonies or the such. It’s completely surreal, and between that and facing the Pacific Ocean, there is something exceptional and unique to it.

4. Saint Martin

We did a story on Saint Martin a few years ago and, first of all, found the island magical simply between the Dutch side and the French side. It had the flavor of Europe, but right in the Caribbean. But it also has that nice western-facing side facing the ocean.

5. Serengeti National Park in Tanzania

Serengeti National Park has a few things going forward for their sunsets. First of all, the sky has that crystal clear element to it so heavy and soft and has those beautiful hues. But in addition, every angle, of course, has the potential for wildlife, making it one of the most beautiful sunsets.

6. Key West

There’s a trend in this list, All the sunsets have a western element. Key West has the Pacific, a beautiful breeze, and a clear skyline.  It has West in the name, plus Key West is gorgeous.

7. Sicily

Sicily has the first criterion of being a western-facing destination, but it also wins in terms of being an island between the fact that it’s also historic and European, so you can get some amazing backdrops too.

8. Cape Elizabeth, Maine

I threw this one in also to show you that you don’t always have to have something that western-facing. Maine, of course, being on the East Coast is a bit of a surprise, but the way the sun sets over the Cape Elizabeth lighthouse is completely surreal. It is unique, and also fortunately gets that element of clear skies helping it even more.
