The Illustrated Usk Observer was less than impressed by reports of the ghost of an old Irish cobbler in Glascoed.

Dowlais
Various newspapers carried an intriguing story about a 14 year old boy from Dowlais who claimed to have seen his own ghost standing 'white and death like' in his back yard. Although a healthy lad beforehand, he soon sickened and died after the encounter. Here's the story in the Cardiff Guardian (12/02/1864):
