How can I do everything right by my child?

Tags: spend

That question is the reason why responsible people are afraid of taking on the biggest responsibility of their life: parenthood. If a child grows up to be bad, one can almost be certain that a huge part of it is because of a parent’s shortcomings. Everyone wants to learn how to be a perfect mom but it’s impossible; after all, nobody is perfect. What everyone must strive for is how to be a great parent to their offspring. There’s no formula to achieving it, only experience and tips from the long-time mothers out there can help guide you in the right direction.

Be patient with them

Don’t shout at your kids when they make a mistake. If they spill some water at the dinner table, or accidentally break your favourite coffee cup, take a deep breath. If you’re always angry, your child may absorb it and in return become angry at all times whenever he or she is in school. While it can be challenging not to yell at them for making a mess of things, remember that parenting is a test of patience. Instead of yelling, try to correct them with a firm voice. A firm, serious voice that comes from a parent is much scarier and respected than someone who is constantly yelling at them. By having more patience with them, you’re teaching your kids how to be patient themselves.

Be an example to them

One of the best ways for your kids to embody your values is by showing them how it’s done. Get involved with your community that contribute in making the neighbourhood better, extend a helping hand to charities that help make the world a better place for children, and don’t curse in public. You can also teach them how to be independent by showing them how to cook and wash clothes. Teaching kids to be independent as they grow up is vital to their development as a person.

Most important: spend more time with them

There’s simply no excuse not to Spend time with your kids. Did you decide to have them only to leave them behind most of the time in the care of other family members? It is important for parents to spend time with their kids every day.

When you spend time with your kids, you will learn about their strengths and weaknesses. You will see which areas they need to improve on, as well as correct behavioural traits that need immediate correcting. Children act based on the people they spend most of the time with so if you want them to grow up as responsible as you, be with them as much as humanly possible.
