Marple Book Fair 2016

We have had a bit of a quiet week here, following the celebration of Mr D turning four at the start of the week. The weather hasn’t been great and we’ve all been tired and fighting off coughs and colds and general sniffles. However, on Saturday we decided to head to the very first Marple Book Fair, hosted by Matthew James Publishing.

The Book Fair took place in the hall of St Martin’s Church in Marple Bridge. We parked up and headed across. There were some local authors present and a couple of books that really took my eye including one called the The Red Hat Guide to Manchester City Centre – it’s on the Christmas wish list as it looks a great way to learn more about the city. I’m pretty well up on Manchester and the places of note, but this looks a good thing to do with the children too.

We also enjoyed seeing the children’s books that Matthew James Publishing have as part of their Tiny Tree Imprint. We were sent some of these earlier in the week and the children love them – especially The Field Feud which the children think is hilarious and had me read to them twice as well as again at bedtime.

After we had had a wander around the Book Fair we went for a stroll around Marple Bridge. It was a bit of a drizzly day but fresh and nice enough for a stroll. The children enjoyed seeing the river and the heron – I never tire of spotting the heron when we walk along the canal, there’s something very calming and majestic about them.

All in all a very pleasant way to spend a Saturday morning – and we will be looking out for the second Marple Book Fair.
