The Bridal Shoes Edit For The Vintage Bride

First comes the ring, then comes the dress, then comes the shoes – arguably thee most important Wedding dress decision a bride-to-be will ever make. Cinderella missed the memo; glass slippers are no longer the bride’s go-to and nor are ivory courts (that memo is for Kate Middleton) – not when designers are stepping up their bridal game to bring us statement shoes for any type of bride. Here is OneChicMom’s guide to Bridal Shoes for all weddings. Congratulations to you and your sole-mate! (like what we just did there?).

We’ve discussed beach bridal shoes here, for all those brides who like the feeling of sand between their toes. Now it’s the turn of the Vintage bride.

In the interest of full disclosure, I have to confess that vintage gets my vote, and my own wedding shoes echoed this theme. While my interpretation of ‘vintage’ pivoted around lace, vintage pearls, duck-egg blue, and a nod to Hollywood glam – I’m pretty partial to any retro interpretations; be it rustic, garden party or Shabby Chic. In fact, any theme that gives a nod to nostalgia is my favourite kind so if the past is your thing, then take a peek at these beautiful shoes which look authentic enough to have come from a by-gone area (with the added luxury of today’s comfort factor).

English Country Wedding

An English country wedding pivots between rustic and romantic, sleek and whimsical, refined yet effortless, and it’s important to capture this in your footwear. Weather permitting you might enjoy some Pimms on the lawn, so keep this in mind when selecting the heel height of your bridal shoes.

Emmy BLOSSOM £695.00

Shabby Chic

Also referred to as vintage chic or country chic, shabby chic is often suited to country houses or hotels and manages to fuse glamour with well-loved vintage.

John Lewis Rainbow Club Marie T-Bar Peep Toe Court Shoes, Ivory Satin £110.00

Great Gatsby

Looking to travel back to the glamorous jazz era, then Art Deco might be just your thing? A movement which spanned the 20s, 30s, and into the early 40s was all about straps when it comes to bridal shoes.

John Lewis Rainbow Club Harlow T-Bar Stiletto Heeled Sandals, Ivory Satin £75.00

Victorian

A Victorian wedding is about grace and class and sets the bar high for dainty detailing, from the dress right through to the shoes. In fact, it’s Queen Victoria herself who set the precedent for weddings and prompted the trend in white gowns. The Victorians know a thing or two about how to marry, Jimmy Choo knows a thing or two about shoes.

Jimmy Choo Romy 85 £495.00 White Lace Pointy Toe Pumps

Rock n Roll

Are you an alternative bride, looking back to 50s style rock and roll and most certainly donning a tea-dress? If so, then the shoes most certainly act as a focal point so why not go bold and add a pop of colour?

MIU MIU Bow-embellished patent-leather pumps £535

Boho

Flower crowns, mason jars, and bare feet. Ok, so if bare feet aren’t proving practical then be inspired by your next best option.

RENE CAOVILLA Minster 2 Swarovski crystal-embellished leather sandals £660.00
