Family dinners are a thing of the past it seems. Busy schedules, lack of time and our concentrated energy in our devices and gadgets has made it so that families don’t get to sit down together.

In my own family we don’t sit down together much. With my two teens who get home past 7pm and my youngest, home after lunch, family meals have truly become a lost art. It used to be we’d sit down together, eat and talk about our day. It’s a time to catch up and stay in touch.

I still stay in touch with my kids daily but doing it over a meal has drastically lessened. I’ve been aiming to have more family meals, at least once a week on weekends.

One of my goals is to make my home more comfortable and functional. My kitchen and dining space are top on my list. For now, budget has been tight and I’ve been doing it a little at a time.
