Free Outdoor Summer Movies Return To Jersey City And Hudson County Parks

This year’s list of free outdoor movies in Jersey City and Hudson County Parks looks pretty impressive. Screenings have already started at some locations and they run through October, with the final movie The Nightmare Before Christmas, being shown on October 13 at Hamilton Park. The majority of the movie titles are PG-13 and are family friendly. A few of the titles this year are geared towards an older crowd including Back to the Future, The Beatles: Eight Days A Week, Ghost Busters: Answers the Call, He Named Me Malala, Hidden Figures, LaLa Land, Passengers, Singin’ in the Rain, Space Jam, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Residents have the volunteers at the Hamilton Park Neighborhood Association and Van Vorst Park Association as well as Newport Jersey City Apartments, the Jersey City Office of Cultural Affairs, City of Hoboken, County of Hudson and the Jersey City and Hudson County Department of Parks to thank for organizing these wonderful annual outdoor events. As a general rule the films start at sundown, unless otherwise noted. In June and July sunset is usually between 8:30 and 9 pm; in August it’s closer to 8 pm. It’s a good idea to arrive early to get a prime spot and to bring your favorite snacks, bug spray, a flash light, chairs and blankets. See you at the movies!
