What We Love

Safe Co Sleeping

As indicated by its name, this bassinet is meant to be by your side, not by your bed.

What this means is that you can place the side sleeper directly on your bed and have baby sleep right next to you without jeopardising his personal space and safety.

You see, one of the reasons why sleeping on the same bed with a newborn isn't recommended is because there is a risk that baby may be rolled over by parents. The adult mattress may not be firm enough too, resulting to SIDS-related hazards.

With the SwaddleMe Sleeper though, its all-around sturdy metal frame will keep baby secured and well separated from parents even though they are all on the same bed. And baby will get his own firm, well-fitted sleeping mattress.

Seriously, we can hardly imagine anyone being able to roll over these hard and sturdy metal material without waking up so that eliminates one of co-bed sharing's biggest concern.

The mesh sides will ensure good ventilation is maintained so that baby does not overheat in it and it also provides clear visibility for parents who are lying on the same eye-level to have peace of mind.

You can feed, soothe, monitor and bond with baby throughout the night, while ensuring baby is safely contained in a cozy space of his or her own.

What's thoughtful though, is that if you look closer at the picture above, you will notice that the middle of both sides are thinner.

This is done not so much for aesthetic purposes but rather, they are designed so to be compressible side walls so that you can comfortably reach in / lay an arm in to comfort and soothe baby when need be.

The side walls will spring back up automatically once pressure is lifted off of it so you won't need to worry about any hazardous risk as a result of forgetting to pull them back up in place.

Folds Flat for Travel

You will be glad to know that the sturdy frame of the SwaddleMe Side Sleeper folds flat.

As a result, it makes for one best infant co sleeper to bring along when you travel because it wouldn't take up much space.

And its weight is almost non-existent at 0.16 ounces.

The mattress pad that comes with it, likewise, is foldable so you can pack it alongside with the frame. This way, baby will continue to have a familiar place to sleep in no matter where you go.

Speaking of the mattress pad, like the fitted sheet that the SwaddleMe comes with, is completely removable and washable.

The SwaddleMe By Your Side Sleeper actually comes in a Deluxe version where additional features like lullabies, vibration, nature sounds and soft-glow nightlight are provided (in a detachable unit) so if you need a little extra help in calming your newborn, this will be the solution.

Things to Note

Compared to other baby bassinets, the SwaddleMe Sleeper has a shorter usage life - it is recommended for babies 0-3 months only (or until baby begins to push up or roll over).

The short life span of bassinets (usually 6 months or so) is a major deterrence for people from getting one already, the 3-month usage period of the SwaddleMe will undoubtedly put some people off even more so.

However, the way we see it is that it serves quite a different purpose so it wouldn't be fair to compare them that way. For one, it provides a safe option for parents who want to co-sleep with baby on the same bed that will otherwise not be available.

Given bed space will ultimately be an issue, it wouldn't be able to accommodate too long a co-sleeper on it so 3 months is actually ideal because your baby will be slightly less reliant on you by then.

In any case, you would most likely have recovered from childbirth already so getting up from the bed to attend to baby in another room/standalone bassinet will not be as taxing.

So rather than thinking that it is not worth the price, we think that it is more than worth its value being the best in bed co sleeper for parents to co-sleep with their newborn.

Pros

  • Best in bed co sleeper
  • Very affordable
  • Folds flat for easy travel
  • Comes with mattress pad and fitted sheet
  • Easy to reach in bassinet to soothe baby
  • Very lightweight

Cons

  • 0-3 months use only

Conclusion:

Overall, we will say that the SwaddleMe By Your Side Sleeper is a great solution to parents who are faced with co-sleeping dilemmas or for people who does not have too much floor space to play about.

It gives a safe and comfortable environment for bed-sharing with baby and it provides an alternative option for parents who do not want an extra item in their room - there cannot be a better bassinet for small spaces than this one here, trust us.

It is also an economical alternative for c-section recovering mothers who cannot afford bedside sleepers like this (or this) so that they can comfortably breastfeed and tend to baby without having to struggle to get up from their bed.

So really, this is truly the best in bed co sleeper that you will not regret getting!
