Toy Storage Ideas for Living Room

Toy Storage Ideas

You know you have this problem - toys strewn everywhere, and we mean literally everywhere in your living room, playroom, nursery... wherever your child plays with his/her toy. Every nook and cranny, you're bound to find a mini figurine, a toy car or God forbids, a piece (or pieces) of Lego etc. that is just laying casually around, waiting or even begging silently for your (or your little one's) innocent foot to step on. World's loudest shriek and cussing (you know you can't help it sometimes) thus ensues.

If this is you, trust us, we feel you. The thing is, the number of toys will only continue to grow so if you don't have a solution for it, your living room will soon turn into a landmine, we kid you not. To save your feet and to keep your living room Pinterest-worthy at all times, we have came up with some toy storage ideas for living room that you can take reference of to keep your sanity.

1. Best Toy Storage (for categorizing different toys)

If you have several children, or even just one child that has many different categories of toys, i.e. Legos, Barbies, soft plushies, toy cars, wood blocks, balls etc, we suggest getting a storage organizer with bins so that you can put these toys away categorically in their own bins.

The biggest attraction of storages like these is how easy it is to see where's what and to access them without having to rummage through what seems like an endless pit of toys. Of course, the level of tidiness you can get out of it is a big plus point too!

1. Tot Tutors Kids' Toy Storage Organizer with 12 Plastic Bins

Tot Tutors Kids' Toy Storage Organizer with 12 Plastic Bins

The Tot Tutors Kids' Toy Storage Organizer is one of the best toy organizer that provides ample storage space for your children's toys.

It comes with 12 plastic bins in different sizes so that you can store away the toys categorically. All the 8 standard and 4 large plastic containers are removable and given the height of this toy organizer, toddlers and preschool-aged children can easily reach for the containers themselves to take out their toys, books and games during playtime. Don't worry, the frame is made of sturdy wood construction with steel dowels included to support the bins so it will not topple over your children.

We think the Tot Tutors Kids' Toy Storage Organizer is a piece of furniture that is a great fit for all homes, whether large or small. It comes in 5 colour finishes (each comes with different coloured-bins) so there is bound to be one that fits your living room (or playroom/nursery) interior and aesthetics. In addition, the colourful bins can teach your little one colour identification as well as sorting and cognitive skills too!

Clinically proven to reduce colic and discomfort**, the Anti-colic Baby bottle helps your baby sleep well and digest properly. Unlike other bottles, the Airflex venting system reduces air ingestion. As your baby feeds, the valve that is integrated into the nipple flexes to allow air into the bottle to prevent vacuum build up and vents the air to the back of the bottle. It keeps air in the bottle away from the baby’s tummy to help reduce gas, spit-up and burping.
Philips Avent Slow-Flow Nipples are a dual-hole extra-soft silicone nipple intended for infants older than one month, yet they can be used by breastfed babies of all ages. Working with your baby's natural feeding rhythm, the nipples let your baby control the flow, which can help reduce overeating and spit-up.

2. ECR4Kids 3-Tier Toy Storage Organizer for Kids

ECR4Kids 3-Tier Toy Storage Organizer for Kids

The ECR4Kids 3-Tier Toy Storage Organizer for Kids is another 12-bin organizer but lower in height compared to the Tot Tutors' at 25" tall only. This makes it easier to reach for for most kids ages 3 and up.

Aside from the height difference, the bins that come with this 3-tier storage organizer are also uniformed in size. There is no saying whether this or different-sized bins are better, rather, it is mostly a personal need and preference. If you have a particular toy that is bigger in size or quantity, you may want to have the option of bigger bins. On the other hand, if you're one that likes to keep your stuffs organized in a uniformed way, same-sized bins may be to your liking.

Constructed of heavy-duty blow-molded side panels with built-in handles for easy transport, reinforced steel cross bars are also incorporated at the construction base so it is very durable to support the weight of whatever that is put into it.

Ideal to clean up clutter in your living room or any part of the home, the rounded edges design provides added safety to children as there is no sharp edges that may hurt them. Many parents love the ECR4Kids 3-Tier Toy Storage Organizer for Kids in the pictured Sand colour with matching bins for its clean, minimalist look, but if you like the idea of training your little one his colour sorting and identification skills, know that this organizer comes in two other choices of assorted coloured bins too!

3. Step2 Fun Time Room Organizer and Toy Storage

Step2 Fun Time Room Organizer and Toy Storage

We thought you'd like another option but in a slimmer version if you do not have a wide enough space in your living room, hence we found the Step2 Fun Time Room Organizer and Toy Storage which houses 11 bins in a taller and narrower rack.

Among the 11 bins, 9 are identical while the remaining two shelved at the most bottom rack is extra large for those big toys or plushies. All bins are made of plastic and are detachable for easy and portable clean-up.

Step2 Storage Labelling
Step2 Toy Storage wall hooks

We like how each bin comes with a specialised sticker at the front so that your kid can personalise each storage unit of what's inside (or even to write their names down if your kids are sharing one shelving unit).

It also comes with wall anchors for you to hook the organizer to the wall so that it is more secure and stable if you worry it may topple over given it is taller than most other organizers, or when your kids became rough.

At the end of the day, it is mostly a matter of preference whether you like a taller toy storage organizer like the Step2 Fun Time Room Organizer and Toy Storage, or shorter but wider ones like those reviewed above. Even though the colour of this one is pretty much unisex, know that it is available in another pink colour too (well, the bins are mostly pinks and reds) for the little princesses!

2. Best Toy Chest (wooden toy boxes for sale)

If a toy storage organizer with bins is not what you're after (some may think it takes up too much living room space, or some don't like to have all their toys displayed out), whatever the reason is, a good alternative is - a toy box for toys.

It doesn't have to be an alternative, actually. Many who have bought a storage organizer would still own a toy box for baby room (or two) because sometimes, you just need more storage space for your toys. And sometimes, there are things that a toy box will simply store better than a toy bin (and vice versa).

For example, we  think toy chests make for the best storage for soft toys/plushies because these toys are usually too big for the toy bins. Plus, you can still see and access them easily as opposed to say, if you store a piece of lego in a big toy box (boy, looking for it will be hard work!). Also, stowing them away in a lid-close box protects them from accumulating too much dust as compared to being displayed out and about.

There are many toy chests for sale and they come in different sizes and materials, so let's see what are some of the best toy box for toddlers!
