Rujuta Diwekar has the perfect solution to beat your evening hunger pangs!

Evenings are the time when Hunger hits the peak and we end up binging on junk, thereby breaking our diet. And eating a fruit, an energy bar or having a cup of tea or coffee is definitely not the solution, in case you thought so. Rujuta Diwekar suggests some of the best Indian foods you must be eating to beat the 4 pm hunger and the celebrity dietician also tells us why and how these foods benefit us.

Curbing the evening hunger by having chai or coffee pushes our bodies to produce more cortisol, which in turn drops in the evening that allows you to have a good night’s sleep. This is extremely important to maintain your metabolic health, hormonal balance, your immune response and your response to stress,” writes Rujuta in her latest Instagram post.

Rujuta also stresses that curbing or fighting the evening hunger might only lead to:

1.    Over eating during dinner

2.    Poor digestion

3.    Thyroid issues

4.    Insulin sensitivity

And this is why eating a balanced meal in the evening is important. Here are some food Rujuta recommends you eat to kill the 4pm hunger pang.

1.    Handful of groundnuts or channa

Channa and groundnuts keeps you full for longer, prevents bloating and over eating at dinner time. This is ideal for those who eat an early dinner (before 8 pm), for diabetics, for PCOD and those with low energy levels through the day.

2.    Jaggery, ghee and chapathi

If you have sleeping issues, work late night, eat a late dinner or suffer from low haemoglobin, this is the snack you must be binging on.

3.    Poha/Upma/Dosa/ Homemade khakra/ homemade mathri/ besan Laddoo/ Egg toast

This is the best meal for those who suffer from frequent headaches and leg cramps. Also, if you are the kind who works in the evening and have a low immunity, this will sort it all for you.

4.    Chaat/samosa/street food

And, of course who can say ‘no’ to street food. However, evenings are the best time to binge on your favourite chaat. Anytime later, is definitely going to hinder your weight loss. And make sure you do so only once a week.

Follow this plan and your dinner quantity will automatically drop in the next 4-5 days, adds Rujuta.
