Bigfoot Under An Apple Tree And Other Stories

First, I will state the obvious, this is a very old second hand report, but I like these old reports. Some may question why I like some of these old reports and the answer is rather easy. See, back in the 40's, 50's, and 60's, people were outside a lot more. They had gardens to attend to and children helped. On days when there wasn't work to be done, kids played outside. They were not plopped down in front of a television set playing the newest great game and they didn't have their nose buried in the next greatest cellular phone. They were outside, unlike the majority of people today. By being outside, you greatly increase your chances of seeing a bigfoot, or some other rare creature. Another reason I like some of the old reports is because it helps establish a history of sightings. So with all of that said here is a report, along with some other stories, that was recently sent to me.

"Bigfoot, Under the Old Apple Tree"

As Told to David

My Father tells of seeing Bigfoot when he was about 7 years old in 1955 at a house his family rented not far from the Ohio River in WV. This house had not been lived in for quite some time, as the area around the house was very overgrown with briers and brush. He and his sister were playing in the yard on a warm summer day. They were pounding on some boards trying to make a wagon.

There was a chicken coop with a large apple tree nearby. The apples were ripe as he remembers his mother and father jumping up and hanging on a large limb, shaking it to retrieve apples for cooking. A couple days later my father seen some movement walking to the tree. He at first thought it was his mother in a black fur coat, and thought it was awful hot for such a coat. As he watched the creature which stood on two legs, let out two loud vocalizations and then pulled down the large limb that his parents had swung on and it started eating apples with both hands.

My father told his Sister that he thought he was seeing a bear, but she didn't believe him, so he ran to the house and told his parents, but by the time they made it outside, it was gone. He thought they might not believe him, but they said they did, as they had seen the broken limb and had followed it's tracks to the Ohio River.

Another time he saw a lizard climbing up a bush in the front yard. It was fairly large with a flat round belly that looked as if it had swallowed a coin, and it kept changing colors. Another time my father was laying in the yard on his back, starring at the sky and a large object that looked a large ball of fire moved across the sky like a plane and went into the woods, quite a distance away. He ran into the house telling his mother that soon that the woods would be on fire and what he had seen. But no fire appeared and no noise from a crash. Another time his mother met the school bus, in front of the house, telling him and his sister to get in house. They asked what was wrong, she said that several huge black birds had landed near the house earlier that day, and they were a lot taller than her at 5'2", and their wingspans were very wide, and they had no feathers at all on their heads. His mother was a crack shot with a rifle so he asked her why she hadn't shot one so they could see it when they came home. She said that she was afraid that its friends may come after her.

It was many years later before my father seen a black bear or heard of a chameleon lizard and found that they aren't native to the United States and don't thrive in a cold climate. Or heard of Bigfoot. My Father wonders if there may have been some kind of portal in that area. This all happened just a few miles south of Nessly Chapel, which is very old and said to be haunted.

This location is not many miles north of the Silver Gate Bridge Collapse some years later, and my father wonders if the Mothman sightings may have been a Condor.

-End Report-

Some interesting stories there for sure. If only there were cell phones back then, we could possibly be debating a blurry photo, instead of reading some cool stories.
Thanks goes to David for sharing some of his father's stories with all of us.

Thanks
~Tom~
