Share Tally – the social media analytics tool

You have created a blog. Seen how much it is being shared or tweeted on major social sites. But what about the other sites?? What if you could see it all on one page within 5 seconds?

Well for anyone who is serious about building their online presence, Social Media analytics tool is a must. One way or the other, we all spend a lot of time on the social media, sharing the original and curated content. Sharing is one part, but is anyone reading it?  For this we do have a lot of analytical tools, but you might have to go to multiple sites to check. This could get a bit frustrating if all you need is to check whether your social strategy is getting noticed.

This is where share Tally is an extremely useful tool. It checks and returns the count of the number of times a URL has been shared on the social media. It defines how much your concept is selling with the audience. For example, you might have posted a blog, or are considering to read an article but want to know whether it is really trending. Well you might have plugins which could tell you that it’s had 10 Tweets and 5 Facebook Shares, but what if you had a tool which had the count for a lot more social sites??? Isn’t the other smaller niche voting sites that drive so much targeting traffic important?

Well Share Tally tallies 20 social media sites. Now you could use your social media share stats to:

• improve your social media engagement
• make marketing decisions
• tie social media to your bottom line

Consider this scenario. You blogged and then saw the count on share Tally. You see that it is heavily shared on Facebook. Now either you can promote it further on Facebook. Or you could diversify and think of new techniques to promote it on other social sites. You could exactly know which social website should be your target and accordingly tie the bottom line to it.

The steps are very simple.

I entered Stackoverflow and below is the results I got.



You can see the number of Facebook shares, the likes, the tweets and whatnot.  The total Activity is also provided.

Share tally has another important tool A bookmarklet. Just drag this on to your browser bookmarks bar; and the next time, just click on this tool while you are on a certain webpage. And Voila you get the count. Can it be simpler than that??

Just to be sure the metrics are consistent, I checked out Shareaholic and almost a similar number was obtained. I did a bit of research to find out more about this tool.



One can see that it attracts a significant amount of crowd from even India but the bounce rate is 43.97% and the average time on site in 2.5 mins. This shows that though it is attracting crowd, but is not able to engage them for a long time. Also the count which this tool shows is the overall count. There are no filters to see the count for any specific period.  This tool could actually do a lot more to engage the audience. But I guess we will have to wait and watch.
