How To Deal With Your Time And Be Highly Efficient

To deal with your time starts with the most democratic variable that exists!

For some people, time isn’t a big thing but to Deal with your time successfully; it’s all about being fully aware of how much time you really have.

For some people, the timeframe goes from sunrise and til the sun sets in the evening. This is still the way of viewing time in communities with a lack of development. To deal with your time in those societies is very much a survival task.

Jumping to a more modern environment, to deal with your time is typically something we “fight against” on a daily basis. How often do you use the following expressions?

“I do not have time.”

“If I had time…”

“If the time allows me.”

“The time just blew away.”

Using these statement when you deal with your time, is nothing else than real excuses. And it’s one of the most common ways in which people lie to themselves.

The unusual characteristic of your time is that it’s 100% democratic. Every single individual on earth, no matter age, gender, social belonging, race or religion, we all have exactly 24 hours at our disposal every single day. Not one single second more or one single second less.

The interesting thing is how to deal with your time efficiently. Besides being a thoroughly democratic variable, time is also totally rigid and unflexible.

Deal With Your Time Regarding The Past, The Present And The Future.

Trying to take advantage or command and deal with your time efficiently, you need to face the reality that you only can control a very small and limited peace of the time. That part is the present.

However, your past will be framed by your actions in the present. But the most important is that it will decide the path of the future.

The time has been analyzed in many different forums linked to religion, philosophy, and science. In some cases, it has even been viewed as a fourth dimension of life. The more I try to understand what time really is, the more confused I get.

So, let’s make it simple and useful and only make one description that can be of help when you need to deal with your time.

Deal with your time – Past, Present, Future

Let’s transform the past, the present and the future to experience, action, and result. After all, it’s the same time pillar but adding some more motion or animation.

The point is that you cannot change the past, but you can have an impact on the future by acting appropriately in the present. By not being active, or worse being entirely passive, it’s so easy to blame the time for your failure.

To wait for a better future is the same as not doing anything to assure a better future. Blaming the “bad luck” in the past is the same as not giving credit to that your past was based on events out of your control.

Do you see how easy it is to build up a history and predict the future, where you nominate yourself as the victim of the circumstances? Most people failing in life can without problems identify themselves in this kind of description. And worse, the real losers accept these circumstances as their life destiny.

Planning Is The Key When You Deal With Your Time

With appropriate Planning, you can optimize your future. First, you need to use your experience (the past), to not repeat earlier failures. The past should serve you as a rich bank of experience. You take advantage of all your knowledge to plan for a better future.

Your concrete planning needs to be divided into some very basic categories:

  • Eating
  • Sleeping (or resting)
  • Social and family life
  • Hobbies
  • Work

Planning – Deal with your time

The first two (eating and resting) should not be so difficult, as they very much are driven by tangible needs by getting tired and hungry. However, by not eating correctly and sleeping well over a period, the body can run on an entirely unbalanced mode and produce severe danger.

So watch out!

Now, let´s be honest and see how you plan your private, social and Family life. At least in my case, I have during many years given the family and friends the time that was left after the work was done. During many years, striving upwards on the career ladder, most of the time was dedicated to working.

Every family is a separate and unique case, and it’s impossible to make any static number on how much time you should invest in family and friends.

But watch out before it will be too late!

I was lucky to have a very comprehensive wife and family. Others run into a family tragedy when it is too late trying to rescue what already is lost.

Typically you schedule your hobby activity quite well and detailed because it is an activity you like a lot. It is your passion!

Planning Your Work

Why do we not plan our work the same way? I made this question to myself a few years ago. The honest answer was short and straightforward: I did not feel any passion for my work. This was the signal and warning light for me to change something.

Fortunately, I found the Internet and the new way of doing business online as an independent entrepreneur. I do the work with pleasure, and it forms part of my passions. Can you imagine, it took me 62 years to find out that I was on the wrong path?

It is never too late!

Based on that experience, I am now waking up every morning to do my very best to cultivate my new passion with joy. It all starts with proper planning. If you are passionate about something, it is so easy that you lose track of what you are doing, as you would like to do all at the same time.

Start with your overall objective. Where would you like to be let’s say within a year? From there you need to slice it down to monthly, weekly and daily planning.

In all activities, even the ones you have a strong passion for, there are tasks you like more than others, and without planning, we often start off with the tasks we like the most. Instead, you have to think about what are the tasks that bring your business forward. It can be everything from daily routine work to tasks of a more developing nature.

Always prioritize the tasks that will make your business grow.

Use An Agenda!

There are so many different programs and agendas out in the market, and I will not use your valuable time on going into these matters as you will find much better sites than this one to figure out which agenda is best for you.

Further, it is often the personal style of each and every one that decides which planning system fits best for you. However, do not even think about to work without a planning system. I call it planning system as it should include your, daily “to-do-list,” project developments together with typical agenda related issues, like appointments, phone calls, conferences, webinars and similar activities where more people are involved and where it is important to have a time coordination.

I’ll tell you that it has happened to me that I have missed an important conference call because of not being properly registered in my agenda. When you work with something you are genuinely passionate about, the daily work is so full of positive emotions, and a strict schedule is the only way to keep control of your activities.

Make it simple and do not complicate life with expensive agendas or planning system. I am using my Google agenda and link it to my Gmail.  It fulfills all my needs.

Do what you feel fits best into your time planning and the planning in the present for a bright future.
