When planning a vacation or business trip what is your first search? It’s likely that you are thinking of one of those travels sites that not only show you various flight options, but also gives you recommendations of places to stay. Soon that may no longer be the best answer.
For months Pepper Gang has covered recent updates that Google has been making that have one goal in mind: to claim a top spot in the travel industry. In June, they made changes to their search function to help users find activities and flights for their trips more easily. Google’s page entitled Google Flights, which was improved for mobile use back in July, is a great tool for finding the best deals for flights and hotels. Lastly, if you want to make plans and are not satisfied with Google’s new search features, check out their app Google Trips. It allows you to make plans and map out exactly where you are going before you leave. Not only that, but you can use it with or without the internet when you get to your destination.
With all of these improvements it makes a lot of sense to use Google instead of your usual travel site. It is simplified and straight forward, there are fewer or zero distracting ads than the traditional sites (depending which tool you use) and you can use them on across your devices. With the holiday season coming up many college students will be flying home and families flocking to warmer climates. It is going to be interesting to see if the travel giants like Travelocity and Kayak will stay on top, or if Google will gain momentum. People tend to search for those types of sites through Google, maybe now they will use Google as a one-stop-shop which would definitely shake up the travel industry. Keep an eye out for more travel updates being made by Google, and in the meantime check out their new developments!
