We thought that for this Valentine’s Day, we’d stick to what we know. And we know SEO. So we’re taking a cheeky look at the searches that Peak around the time of Valentine’s Day. To do this, we used Google Trends – which gives an arbitrary score out of 100, with 100 being the most, to search volumes for a specific keyword.
We looked at which keywords had a search volume of 100 on the week of Valentine’s Day, including the more risqué options (which led us to question some of your searches to be honest.)
#1 Roses
We’re starting the list with something cute and adorable – roses. They peak the week of Valentine’s Day, which is not a surprise as they’re the stereotypical and iconic V Day gift. Let’s hope you get a big old bunch of these on the day.
#2 Chocolate
Chocolate is another classic Valentine’s Day gift (and pairs nicely with the roses) so it’s unsurprising that they peak on the week of the big day too. Hopefully a big box of these end up on your desk (or you binge on a box at home, whilst watching Ghost and crying)
#3 Condoms
Interestingly, condoms seems to peak just after Valentine’s Day. During the actual week of Valentine’s Day, it only gets a score of 99, which is worrying…
#4 Lingerie
Seems like everyone is getting their sexy Valentine’s lingerie shopping done early, because it actually peaks the week before V Day. Unless they’re just doing extensive research before they head out to buy that PVC nurse’s outfit.
#5 Chat up lines
Chat up lines seems to a have an almost comically-large peak on the week of Valentine’s Day. Maybe Desperation Day is a real thing, after all.
#6 True Love
This is probably the most reassuring sign that we found on our search. People searching for True Love seemed to peak the week of Valentine’s Day. How adorable! Nothing says happy Valentine’s Day like true love! D’aww.
