LUCKNOW: Adding yet another feather in its cap, Uttar Pradesh has got the best position concerning bringing the maximum number of national vacationers in 2019, leaving Tamil Nadu supporting.
The Indian Tourism Statistics (ITS), 2020, declared that as many as 53.6 crore domestic vacationers seen UP at 2019 that was higher when compared to 2018 if UP had obtained the second place supporting Tamil Nadu.
UP also secured the third place in bringing overseas tourists with a listing footfall of almost 47 lakh foreigners going to the country this past year.
Speaking to TOI here on Monday, chief secretary, culture and tourism, Mukesh Meshram explained that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s efforts in boosting tourism are bearing fruits.
He explained that UP has enormous tourism potential with many areas of spiritual, cultural and historic significance. The country also has many wildlife sanctuaries, he added.
Several circuits are identified in the country and a number of them, such as Ramayan circuit, Braj circuit, Mahabharat circuit, Shaktipeeth circuit, Adhyatmik circuit, Jain circuit along with Buddhist circuit, draw foreign in addition to domestic tourists in massive numbers, said that the secretary, tourism.
Particular emphasis has been given about the upgradation of tourist areas decreasing in those rhythms, Meshram added.
