culture

Whitsun Festival opened with its premiere on Friday evening. Festival Director Cecilia Bartoli starred in the leading role of Orfeo in Christoph Willibald Gluck’s rarely performed opera Orfeo ed Euridice and was subsequently appointed Kammersängerin.

The audience was excited about the evening of the opera with Cecilia Bartoli – the stormy applause in the Haus für Mozart lasted for minutes. It was dedicated to the whole band, singers, choir, dancers as well as director Christophe Loewe and conductor Gianluca Capuano and his orchestra.

Audience: “Awesome opening”

Above all, it was the performance of Festival Director Cecilia Bartoli that delighted the audience. In Orfeo she gave her impressive debut role. “It was fantastic. It’s a really difficult role, we’re used to him being funny, but it was great,” said a visitor from Bad Ischl in Upper Austria.

said a guest from Germany.

Bartoli was honored as a chamber singer

After the premiere, Bartoli was honored by the Minister of State for Culture Andrea Meyer (ÖVP) – from now on the star of the opera, born in Rome, could call himself a chamber singer.
