The first poster of Sanjib Dey’s debut Film, III Smoking Barrels, focusing on North Eastern part of India’s woes has been released. It is also India’s 1st ever multilingual film.
The movie showcases some of the burning issues from India’s much neglected far East with at least six languages. Mainstream India has always neglected this Region decades after decades and the human resources and beauty of this region still lie untapped.
This is because of several factors like the remoteness of the area from mainland India, language barrier and political apathy from the central Government. There are 8 sister states in this region and they are connected by a narrow stretch of land Siliguri Corridor also better known as the Chicken’s Neck.
The story of the movie has been inspired by true events and the film’s narrative has been kept multi-lingual just to keep the portrayal realistic possible. In the poster, we see a rough and hard-hitting image of three different individuals- a young boy, a child and a man. Each of them is holding guns in their hands.

In an interview, the director of the film Sanjib Dey said that the movie is not about one state but the whole of the North East. No mainstream directors have ever made any attempt to make a film on this region highlighting this region.
The region is a treasure house of 200 dialects, huge ethnic diversities, rich natural resources. It is one of the most exciting films of this year with great music. The movie is produced by Amit Malpani and written and directed by Sanjib Dey and scheduled to be released on September 21.
