UP Chief minister Yogi Adityanath praised 16th century Mewar king Maharana Pratap Sigh for his valor and indomitable spirit he had shown for more than seven years fighting with his mighty counterpart Mughal emperor Akbar and termed the Rajput warrior as the real hero instead of Akbar.
Addressing a huge gathering on the occasion of Mewar king’s birth anniversary celebrations organized by RSS CM Yogi said that Ranapratap remained still relevant even after 500 years of his death for his spiritual independence.
The CM praised Pratap’s persistence in winning back his forts after years of fight in the Aravalli hills and his refusal to accept Akbar as king. The Mewar ruler did not accept the Mughal emperor’s as sovereign head of India.
Releasing a special edition of RSS magazine ‘Avadh Prahri’ Yogi said Maharana Pratap fought it for several years in the hills of Aravalli with his self-respect.
He had to face tremendous hardship and troubles but he never bowed down before his enemy and ultimately won back his forts. Thus he set an example of bravery, his epic fight was not for a day but went on for years.
There were other kings ruling in different kingdoms and they put their own self-respect at stake to accept Akbar as king. But Pratap stood against all odds and never bowed down to a foreigner.
The CM exhorted the scheduled castes, tribes and backward communities to regard themselves as Pratap’s true descendant as these tribes actually made Pratap great. It was castes whom people today call Dalit, backward and Vanvasi who fought with Pratap in adverse conditions and Akbar was unable to hurt him.
Adityanath said Jaipur king Man Singh came as a messenger but Pratap refused. The great saga of Pratap Singh is an inspiration for all and we should extol him as our real hero.
In recent times several top BJP leaders have offered a new version of Indian history where they eulogized native Indians rulers. BJP MLA Sangeet Som while backing UP government’s decision to remove Taj Mahal from tourist books said that Taj Mahal was built by traitors and it is a blot on Indian culture.
BJP Government at the state is also planning to change the name of Allahabad as Prayagraj next year during the next Ardhkumbh Mela.
