Winter Olympic 2018:
Waited for five long years, finally, it is the time for the most prestigious sports-event in the world, the Winter Olympics. What we spectators see is a long wait of five years between two Olympic events, however, behind the sheets, a sportsman has to improve himself every single day in those 5 years. Putting it in other words, the Olympic Day (of their sport) is actually the D Day for them! We have the list of Upcoming PyeongChang Olympic Games 2018. 1. Alpine Skiing:
The most viewed Winter Olympic Game is the Alpine Skiing which has been a part of Winter Olympic Sports events since the year 1936. The sport requires the sportsmen to slide down the snow covered area wearing a heel-binding.
Biathlon is an interesting combination of Snow-Skiing and Shooting which becomes all the more complicated. The sport has been part of the Winter Olympic Games since the year 1924.
Another interesting Winter Olympic Sport is the Bobsleigh which is actually a team sport. The sportsmen use a sled to run down the narrow regions of the snowy tracks which are twisted as well.
4. Cross-country Skiing:
Skiers use ski lifts in order to move across the trek. It is interesting to note that this type of skiing is actually used as a means of transport in the regions that receive huge snowfalls.
Curling is a Precision based Sport which is a part of Winter Olympics since the year 1924. Played by a team of 3 or 4 sportsman, the sport includes sliding of stones to a targeted area.
6. Figure Skating:
Again, Figure Skating is one of the most viewed sports events of Winter Olympics. Individuals, duo or groups wearing figure skates perform different elements of moves on the snow.
7. Freestyle Skiing:
Freestyle Skiing is a new addition to the Olympic Games which has been a part of it since the year 1988. The Skiers ski through rails and other edges in this interesting sports event.
8. Ice Hockey:
Ice Hockey is a team sport which includes a team of 6 players in which one of them plays the role of goal keeper. Rules are more or less similar to the regular hockey with an additional “ice” trek.
Luge is an interesting sled which can accommodate one or two person max. The Luge is used in a face up feet first manner and can run at a speed up to 140 km per hour.
10: Nordic Skiing:
Another twisted skiing event which is delightful to watch is the Nordic Skiing which has been part of the Winter Olympics Games since the year 1924. The sport can be played individually or in a group as well.
11. Short Track Speed Skating:
Another team sport which involves skiers to ski on an oval track having an approximated length of 111 meters. The sport has been a part of the Winter Olympics since the year 1992.
The Skeleton sport is somewhat similar to sliding sports Luge, but this sport can only be played individually. This race event has been a part of Winter Olympics Games since 1928.
13. Ski Jumping:
The sport involves jumping on the snow and landing on a snow cliff, just as the name suggests. The Ski Jumping consists of a Jumping Table and a Landing Hill.
A Snowboard is used to sled down the snow covered snow. Apart from Olympics, the sport has been practiced in Snowy countries for about thousands of years now.
15. Speed Skating:
The Olympics 1028-19 is going to organize a total of 10 events of Speed Skating. This race event consists of short and long track and a finishing point at which the race ends.
