CongressPresident Rahul Gandhi raised the issue of Rafale Fighter Jets by issuing a notice under Rule 357 to speak on the issue in Parliament on Friday. In his notice, he asked the Government to disclose the details of the Rafale ready-to-use Fighter Jet Planes procurement.
He demanded details of the inter-governmental agreement between India and France inked in 2006 for procuring 36 Rafale fighter jets planes. He said that the Central Government run by BJP has quoted a higher price for the Jets than what was negotiated by the UPA Government during their regime.
Congress Party has been alleging that there is irregularities in the Rs 58,000 crore deal. The UPA Government negotiated with France for 126 Rafale fighter jet planes along with the technology during their rule.
However, the deal wasn’t finalized at that time. Rahul Gandhi questioned on Twitter on why the Union defence minister who agreed to share the prices of Rafale jets in Nov 2017 is refusing to share the same details in Feb 2018.
He questioned if it was to hide any corruption or save modiji or his friend or all the above. He said that the minister didn’t answer his questions as there was something wrong with the issue.
