Salman Nizami is not much known as one of the Congress leaders from Jammu and Kashmir but is more popular for his controversial remarks against the country and Indian army.
Recently, he has spoken against the Indian Army on the issue of Shopian firing. Nizami held his opinion that Indian army has fired on the stone pelting mob unnecessarily in Ganowpora village of Shopian district.
Those who lodged FIR against Major Aditya & demanded hz punishment question my patriotism, I nvr mentioned Aditya in my tweet infact exposed BJP-PDP hypocrisy ovr this issue. How long will u blame us for ur crimes? For me the killers are the rulers, who kill innocents for power!

After Nizami’s remarks on Major Aditya Kumar, the Congress Party has distanced itself from him. However, Nizami maintains that he is a Congress politician.
Hey Times Now : No hashtag in support of this ISI agent (IAF officer) Arun Marwaha? Oh! You defend only killer's of innocent Kashmiri's! https://t.co/8hJwvjZClZ

Salman Nizami also tweeted about the arrest of IAF officer in the case of espionage. He questioned ‘Times Now’ asking if there is no hashtag to promote or save the victim of this case. He retorted saying that they will support only people who kill Kashmiris. Salman’s comments degrading Major Aditya and comparing it with the arrest of IAF officer gave rise to huge protests from different quarters.
No mention of "Army in my tweet"; Times Now defends the militants who kill innocent Kashmiris & their aides appear on their TV debates to defend Pak & ISI, they abuse Indian Army not me…! https://t.co/EUbpaKNixB

Congress decided to keep away from this controversial issue and dismissed Nizami from his post in the party. Nizami also questioned that parentage of PM Modi during the Gujarat elections. PM Modi mentioned his name in one of his speeches during the election campaign in Gujarat.
