Humanity has been put to shame with the rape of an eight-month-old Baby by her relative in Delhi. The 28-year-old accused, who was missing from the time of the incident, was arrested yesterday. The Delhi Women’s commission and several other organizations demanded strict punishment to the culprit.

The baby had to go through a surgery for three hours and kept in Intensive Care Unit after that. The incident happened in Subhash Nagar, west Delhi after the parents of the baby left to work.

The father of the baby is a daily wage laborer and mother was a domestic helper, who left to work leaving the baby with a relative. The accused is a cousin of the baby and took her into a room on the pretext of playing with her. When the mother returned after the work, she saw the baby in blood on the bed.

She took her to the hospital, where they have confirmed sexual assault on the baby. The accused was missing from that time and arrested yesterday. The condition of the baby is said to be critical so far. Several people expressed that the faith in humanity is becoming bleaker with such incidents.

The head of Delhi Commission for Women Swathi Maliwal said that it is not a rape on the eight-month baby but it’s the rape of Delhi Women’s Commission.
