Be it the whole world or Russians themselves, there isn’t any confusion on Vladimir Putin participating in the Presidential Elections scheduled in March next year. But Vladimir Putin himself is not sure whether he is going to compete or not. Anyhow the term ‘compete’ is a misnomer as the world is too sure about his win in the elections. With unquestionable political machinery and a solid base, he is the all in all in Kremlin.
As far as the latest developments in the Russian think tank, Putin is not too keen on engaging in a major national election. Last time when he swapped the posts with Dmitry Medvedev, there were enough discussions in close quarters. No doubt, the 2011-2012 elections had been a compelling one for Putin and in all probability, he is not at all adamant in such a gruelling hard fought election.
Does Russia need Putin more than ever? There is no denying the fact that the Global political order is witnessing a typical scenario where the role of Russia is going to be as important as China. With the arrival of Donald Trump as US President and ever-changing equations with China, India and Middle-Eastern countries, Putin is certainly the old horse to play the right card at the right moment. In mid-December, things will be much clear. Anyhow in the upcoming days, it will be much clearer whether Russia is witnessing a political crisis or not.
