Dog Tongs, 1960s

What is this guy doing to the terrier—measuring him for a seersucker suit?

Answer: What he’s doing, he’s using a pair of old-fashion Dog longs on the dog. Dog Tongs were kept in churches in Britain up to about 100 years ago, to remove dogs who fought or otherwise misbehaved during services. This set comes from a Welsh place of worship once attended by many shepherds’ dogs.
