One thing I look forward to every single morning is the dark, bitter blessing of a simple cup of coffee: without milk, without sugar. A cup of Coffee, unadorned. It wakes me up to a fresh beginning. It tunes and refines my day.
In Myanmar, where I was for the past month, it was either Instant Nescafé or what was branded as “new”: the triple mix: instant coffee with sugar and cream, all included in one small package. It tastes like many things but coffee!
I love the coffee bean too much to go for the instant. To actually hear the sound of fresh coffee beans being grounded is a bonus blessing, and an invitation to be grounded and rooted, alert and present, attentive. Always, no matter what, STAY GROUNDED.
On a lighter note, here are some other lessons I’m learning day by day, with a cup of hot, black coffee in my hands:
- Take time to smell the coffee
- Better latte than never
- Take one cup at a time
- Espresso yourself
- Stay grounded
