ICYMI, “The Speech I Never Gave,” posted on July 29, 2016, is a speech I wrote for one of my most diligent students, one who didn’t get the best scores but who always worked with a passion and dedication far exceeding that of her peers.
Unfortunately, I was unable to present her with the middle school English award or give the speech I had prepared. This was done in the name of keeping the outdoor graduation as short as possible (even though there were many, many unnecessary and slogging speeches that bogged down the ceremony), so I gave the student a copy of it and I hope you check it out in case you missed it!
