I have been a Christ-follower for fifty years. I have concluded that God does not always work the same way in every situation. God is not always “predictable.” That makes following Him an adventure! Allow me to share an example from my ministry.
I had a Couple visit our worship service for the first time and they filled out a guest card. As a pastor, I would follow up those that visited that Sunday. This particular couple lived in a rural area which made locating them a challenge. I found a house that fit the description on the card and went to the door and knocked. I was surprised when a young man answered the door. This was not the house I was looking for. I explained to him my “mistake.”
To my surprise, he invited me in. I spent a delightful hour getting to know the wonderful couple and inviting them to our church. That couple did come to our church, committed their lives to Christ and became devoted followers of Christ.
The premise of this blog is; did I make a ‘mistake’? Or did God direct me to a young couple who were looking for a relationship with Jesus Christ? I do not believe there are coincidences in the life of a Christ-follower. Proverbs 20: 24, Proverbs 16:9.
One Saturday morning, a driver crossed the center line and struck Connell’s car head-on. Both Connell and his son, Adam were ushered into God’s Presence. I am so thankful that God directed me to make a “mistake.”
