Most people would drop by Geraldton when visiting Kalbarri. It's the biggest regional town with Target and Coles, marks of advanced civilization.. 

It also has a nice foreshore with playgrounds..

Plenty of places to park your yacht, if you are one of the crazy Rich Australians. Actually the yachts are not that big, so maybe somewhat rich Australians. 

There is a replica of Batavia longboat near the museum. Batavia shipwrecked nearby in the 1600s. There is actually a lifebuoy on the boat if you notice it, sign that the Dutch sailors were ahead of of their times when it came to safety. 

We also went to visit HMAS Sydney memorial. It was located on a hill with good view of the town and surrounding.
