It’s probably obvious by now that I’ve been on a break. I didn’t realize just how long a break until checked out the date of my last post…but I knew it had been a while.

Part of it has been that I’ve been busy with other work – not just my job and my volunteer work in my community, but another part-time job I took on last year doing Writing, social media, and general administrative work from home for Small Business Solver. I took a play-writing class in the fall, and this winter I’m rehearsing to be in a play that will be performed in April.

But I’m also feeling a bit restless. I’ve been writing here for about disability for 7 years. I don’t want to stop, but there are other kinds of writing that I’d like to try, and I’ve already started to over on Medium.com – branching out more into politics, and into Sam Killermann’s research into how Social Justice dogma impacts effective social justice work, as well as disability. But also more personal reflections – about getting older as a disabled woman, my family, and a personal decision that I made several months ago to become an atheist.

So I’m not disappearing. I’m not even making all that big a change, as my publication on Medium.com is also called “Girl With The Cane”, and this website’s URL will eventually redirect to it. But this blog will come down sometime soon. For those who are interested, I’ll probably make some of the more popular posts available in e-book form.
