A Good Friday To Stay Dry At Home

I identify as a misfit.

Brrr! It was cold when I woke this morning shortly after 9am. The woodstove was cold and difficult to light. I tried on and off many times throughout the morning to get it going and finally succeeded around noon.

For brunch I made us each a naan pizza because it was easy to do and also helped heat the house. While the pizzas baked I cooked for the chickens, too. I had Toad feed them their warm meal after he ate his pizza, while I made us each a French Vanilla cappuccino. He had been complaining of being anxious and had asked if I had a "nerve pill". I told him that this cannot become a habit, as he is prone to wanting pills, and that he should do something else to calm down. He asked about watching a movie, so this afternoon Toad, Foxy and I watched Wycliffe S2E1&2. I told him afterwards if he would fetch a wheelbarrow of wood from the woodshed I would bring it in and stack it. It is wet outside from rain but warm at  +7C (45F) as of 4pm, so I can breathe outside. Dog knows I need the exercise. So that is what we did.

Laundry, birdcages cleaned, kitchen and living room vacuumed, dishes done, woodstove tended, cats fed multiple times...the fun never ends.

Watched Wycliffe S2E3 with Toad after we had dinner (Habitant Pea Soup and crackers).

Duolingo: the Family unit was only one to strengthen back to gold, then read the second French story from Set 4:  La première mission.

I had a long Skype visit with D and my grandsons this evening. They are all sick, especially D.  C'est ma fille. She looks and feels miserable, with sore throat and congestion. GC is feeling the best of the three but is still not feeling well and not eating well. Poor GT has a runny nose and cough, yet was very very active during our visit. He has always been a little comedian. He burped and laughed. When D told him it wasn't funny, he said "The burp came from inside." Well, I laughed, and he said "It WAS funny!" GC is very polite, saying please and thank you very nicely, even when refusing to do something. When D asked if he wanted to help her put the Duplo pieces back in the wagon he simply answered, "No, thank you" and continued playing.

Sick, but still feeling like playing, unlike their mama.

While cleaning the birdcages, I tripped in the house today and nearly fell onto the cast iron woodstove. It was a scary feeling.

Yesterday I finally planted three small sprouted potatoes that I had kept watered for several weeks. Today I moved the pot of potatoes into the living room and onto the chest of drawers in front of the south window with most of the houseplants and the cat grass I'm growing for Tommy.

Spent some time on FB tonight, feeling lonely. Messaged my good friend, the only person who, unasked, sent me my dad's obituary from the local newspaper, despite me specifically asking two people. Looked for info and pics of a nephew's baby. Stuff like that. Toad went to bed long ago, after taking his evening meds around 9pm.

Off to bed to read.  Bonne nuit !
