MY LOCKDOWN EXPERIENCE (A long and must read)

Where do I even begin.. When the Lockdown was announced on the 13th of March, hmm I am not even going to lie to you, I was excited. The truth was that I needed a break professionally, emotionally and socially and it seemed like it was given to me on a platter of gold. I was so elated, I thought with this quarantine, I will make myself happy and achieve some fantasised goals;
  • I planned on really focusing on my blog
  • Taking new classes online
  • Re-starting my YouTube channel
  • Sleeping more
  • Worrying less
The thing is before the lockdown, I also had great plans like taking salsa lessons, swimming lessons, travelling to Spain and learning a new language but due to lockdown I had a change of goals lol. The question now is did I achieve any of this goals and has the lockdown season been good to me so far? My answer is ---- The first month was okay, I was happy and wasn't thinking but things became tougher (mentally) the second month
  • The negative and worrisome thoughts developed due to the confinement I believe
  • Lack of sleep
  • Less or no eating
  • Loss of interest in things I normally enjoy like movies and tv shows
  • Mood swings
  • Fear (the news and people dying was a huge trigger)
  • Overthinking
  • Lack of motivation
All these happenings were so shocking to me because, I just never thought I was  capable of feeling this way due to a lockdown, because to be honest, I am a natural introvert so staying indoors shouldn't be such a big deal. Also, I had everything I needed to sustain myself during this period but my soul, mind and body just wasn't connecting and that drove me crazy. It also prevented me from working on my "plans".
So how have I been coping? Am I doing better now? Yes, working out and gospel music saved me. I mean, I used to listen to them but just for fun but now every lyrics, every tone, sound brings some sort of calm and clarity to my Mental Health. Last month was better than the previous ones and I am sure this month is going to be even more superb.
Recently I find myself;
  • Praying more often than usual
  • Paying more attention to my mental health
  • Baking more (sometimes they suck lol)
  • Learning more
  • Being more positive
  • Taking a leap of faith
Everyday is not rosy, some days I try harder but I try and plan to keep going. That being said, I pray anyone who has lost somebody due to the virus finds strength, comfort and peace in Jesus name.
