Detroit’s Q-Line has been running for a year. Is it a hero or zero? Proponents point out that, “It adds character to the city,” “It is part of the revitalization.” So most of the positive opinions are fluffy and vague. What about the critics of the Q-Line? “It is so slow and never on-time so no one who works or lives here uses it,” “It is just a gimmick for tourists. That is why ridership is half of what was expected,” “There is no cheap parking near stations, which is why it is mostly empty cars running around,” “It is another useless People Mover.” Guess what? Washington DC is shoveling another $30 million in taxpayer money at the Q-Line because it will never be able to support itself.
A man with mental health issues was walking along Telegraph with a loaded rifle. Instead of complying with a Dearborn Police Officer, he pointed it at the officer, who was forced to shoot the man, killing him.
And finally, in “It is a Darwin move to be anywhere near Detroit” news,
- A Detroit man was stabbed to death by his girlfriend this weekend. She claims he was drunk, threatened to kill her, and got a knife from the kitchen. When he approached her with the knife, he tripped and fell whereupon she grabbed the knife and started stabbing him.
- Peters Church in NW Detroit had a roof collapse, which then collapsed the walls. Parishioners are attempting to raise the money to repair the damage.
- A Detroit dog owner came home and her dog was missing. She checked her surveillance footage and discovered a woman with a young girl had gone into her back yard, took the dog’s leash and walked away with it.
- A Detroit gas station clerk got into an argument with a customer. The clerk then went around the counter and shot the customer in the chest, who died at the scene. In Detroit, if it isn’t the carjackers shooting at you while you get gas, the clerks are!
