Easter weekend there were 15 people Shot and 6 murdered at 11 different Detroit crime scenes. Some were shot in crossfire; one was in her own home, shot from outside; some bodies were discovered with no witnesses; and a few were just the usual Detroit muggings. Happy Easter Turnaround City!
A Detroit teen was shot dead while live streaming on Instagram. Two 18-year olds were showing off cash and rifles when one of them accidentally shot the other in the head, killing him instantly.
Detroit’s 4 golf courses need between $6-9 million in basic repairs that have been ignored for years. For upgrades, the courses need $18 million. Since they haven’t been maintained, golf attendance has been dropping (in addition to thieves taking clubs, having your car tires stolen). The broke city is considering selling them off.
The Michigan Dept. of Education released a list of failing schools based upon standardized exam results. 9 of the 21 failing schools state-wide are in or next to Detroit. One Detroiter commented, “I know graduates from Detroit’s ‘elite’ high schools that drop out of college after they realize how far behind they truly are from the rest of their college classmates.”
A 10-year old Detroiter, Luan Hunt Jr, saved the lives of his family by getting them out of the house at 3:00am when he noticed smoke and flames. He woke up the 6 other people living in the home and got them out, along with 8 dogs. The home burned from the basement, the cause is not yet known.

- Detroit police are investigating a man’s body found shot in the street by Van Dyke and Gratiot.
- Two brothers were shot in a Detroit drive-by near Schoenherr and 7 Mile Rd. They were in a car driving on Lappin when another car lowered its windows and starting firing shots. Both are expected to survive.
- A Detroit party store was the victim of an ATM smash & grab. Thieves steal a car and ram into a store so they can grab the ATM machine’s cash.
- 36-year-old Detroiter Jerome Adams assaulted a police officer and stole his cruiser; but was caught in just 2 blocks after he smashed into a barricade.
