Michael Ford is the CEO of Detroit’s regional transit authority, making $200,000 a year. Since the 2016 tax millage failed, what has he been doing to earn that money? Who knows, but apparently his side-job is getting inappropriately reimbursed for $37,000 for hotels, meals, and mileage for the last couple years. After being caught, Ford agreed to reimburse $18,000 in some cellphone and insurance payments. Thankfully, he was just hired by a Colorado transit system and he won’t be scamming Michigan any more.
And finally, in “It is a Darwin move to be anywhere near Detroit” news,
- A 28-year old rapper, Phillip Peaks, was mugged at an 8-Mile gas station. Although he handed over all of his money, he was shot several times anyway – but is expected to survive. Along with rapping, Peaks’ main job was being part of the 6 Mile Chedda Grove gang. Two years ago, they were charged with homicides, robberies, and gun & drug trafficking.
- A 44-year-old Detroiter, Germaine Moore, was arrested for sexual abuse of 3 children he was babysitting and then passing on child pornography.
- A Detroit news crew knocked on the door of a home next to a fatal shooting. They heard someone inside yelling, “Help me! I’m bleeding to death.” After they called 911, it turns out, after the fatal shooting responders had all left from next door, someone else arrived and shot him. So he was lying in his living room, bleeding all night. I think Detroit’s resurgence is obviously complete!
