Detroit Realities #627

Hey, let’s go to a Detroit Coney Island! Wait, What? A 30-year-old male was found with a gunshot wound by an eastside Coney Island in Detroit.

Grosse Pointe is trying to move its (allegedly) rat-infested Public Works Warehouse to Detroit. The deal was nearly done when Detroit residents learned of the move and the city’s manager backed out of the transfer.

After a chase with Police, a carjacker in Pontiac with a huge knife was arrested by Oakland County Sheriffs, on M-59. His accomplice, also under arrest, had been shot in the butt by police.

Shots were fired in the parking lot of a Dearborn high school during a basketball game Friday night. The student group in the parking lot was not from Dearborn. I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but were they more likely from Detroit or Traverse City?

And finally, in “It is a Darwin move to be anywhere near Detroit” news,

  • 43-year-old Decharlos Brooks was charged with 8 counts of assault with the intent to murder, following his arrest and shooting at Detroit police officers.
  • U.S. Marshalls are searching for Willie Ashley, he was accused of sexually assaulting a minor in 2015 in Wayne and has been a fugitive ever since then. Ashley is 39-years-old and grew up in Detroit, Wayne, and Inkster.
  • Jackie Reynolds was robbed, killed, and dumped in an vacant home in Detroit. She had just cashed her paycheck and her family hopes the police catch the murderer. Her brother says she has been trying to get over the murder of her father, made worse because it is unsolved.
