Detroit Realities #621

You know when you’re stealing cars, the one vehicle guaranteed to have a GPS locator? A police cruiser! That didn’t deter a 40-year-old Detroiter from stealing an unattended cruiser; he was quickly tracked down by GPS and arrested.

How about you save your kids and move from Detroit?

Next week, a hazard to humanity, scamdog Arthur Rathburn learns what a jury has in store for him: freedom or 20-years in prison. Rathburn was an unlicenced cadaver dealer out of a decrepit Detroit warehouse. He took diseased and infected bodies, hacked them up in the filthiest possible conditions, and then sold them throughout the U.S. to doctors and dentists as pristine specimens. He bought many bodies illegally from a network of unscrupulous funeral homes, without the consent of donors (this means stolen!). A human body sold in parts can be worth $10,000-100,000.

And finally, in “It is a Darwin move to be anywhere near Detroit” news,

  • S. Marshalls are still searching for a suspect, Corey Deshawn Gaston. He broke into a Detroit home through a bedroom window, kidnapped a 10-year old girl, took her to a nearby alley and raped her. He threatened her and let her go. Gaston was arrested in Georgia but a Detroit judge granted him bail in 2008 and he’s been on the run ever since then.
  • A 16-year-old is fighting for his life after being shot in the back during a road-rage incident just west of Detroit in Allen Park.
  • An SUV blew through a red light in Detroit, smashing into a sedan and took off, leaving a woman severely injured.
  • A 61-year-old Detroiter was shot in the ankle in a drive-by. It is believed that the nephew of the man’s girlfriend fired the shots.
