The Bench

The autumn air kissed my cheeks
far from the sounds of the city
The bench was waiting for us
and the scene, it was oh so pretty,

The muted sound of the mountains
so still yet strong in the distance
Created a atmosphere of beauty
and forgotten was any circumstance,

For in this very moment
I just wanted to be
Letting go of everything that ties
feeling nature set me free,

You walked along the sidewalk
and were mesmerized by the view
We didn't say a word to each other
until I turned to look at you,

Life, it's here to fall in love with
to consume us with all its offerings
Your eyes were saying a thousand words
and not one needed deciphering,

The bench was at once tepid
warmed by the sun but cold from the air
You took my hand and we sat for a while
not a whim or a worry did we care,

The autumn air wrapped us
with its beautiful outstretched arms
Unforgettable will this day always be
for nothing's better than me in your arms...
