Saw The Arrival this week.
-Amy Adams is quite good and I’m of the opinion that almost every scene without her is pretty weak.
-For a Film that’s mostly about how communication is established between two unknown entities, it’s actually a pretty solid movie.
-The language aspect of the film is the most intriguing part, especially how dialogue develops in different patterns.
-The military angle of the film is too overblown and actually a bit thin and shallow.
-Forest Whitaker is fine in the film but his talents are a bit wasted.
-The film’s development is around the language and then is rushed whenever the military issues come up. The pacing isn’t Close Encounters (which is fantastic) and that’s unfortunate.
-I’m happy that I viewed the film but I don’t see any real repeat viewing value.
