More Notes

What's making me happy

Last week I told you about the notes I put in Hayden's lunch.
Well, she thought I should get some of my own notes.
I recently got home from a softball game pretty late and saw the sweetest thing on my desk:

Dear Daddy,
There are some things in life that are unpreventable,
There are some things in life that are optional,
There are some things in life that make you mad,
There are some things in life that make you happy,
Choose the things that make you happy!
I love you, Daddy.
Love,
Hayden

And I didn't have a worry in the world after reading her note.
I have gotten a note almost every morning with her words of wisdom and it is a pretty great way to start my day.
She is thoughtful, sweet, amazing, kind and I am so ever grateful that I am her dad.

What's not making me happy

Larry.
We added another cell Phone line and the number used to belong to Larry.
I know this because Larry gets several text messages and phone calls every day.
They want to know if Larry is interested in: Medicare plans, solar panel promotions, extended car warranties, vacation packages, boner pills, celebrity sightings, UFO abductions, cow tipping, ball hair trimmers, males, mail order brides, bridal magazines, bung darts, etc.
All of this made me think of "The Big Lebowski" scene when Walter says:
"Do you see what happens, Larry?"
And then tells Larry that fornicating with an unfamiliar person in their derriere is what happens.
When I was looking for that clip to share I was then reminded about the censored version.
Instead of intercourse, Walter warns Larry about finding a stranger in the Alps.

Censored version:

Uncensored version:

All I was trying to say was Larry was making me unhappy and I ended up talking about strangers in the Alps.
Sounds about right for me and this blog.

Updates

My fraternity brothers and I were able to raise more than $42,000 for one of our friends that got diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer.
He was able to come in town this past weekend for the event and it was good to see all of the boys get back together to help out a brother in need.

Observations

May the 4th be with you, happy Cinco de Mayo and I hope all of you moms out there have a wonderful Mother's Day.

I will try and do better.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.
