  • Andrew Ridgeley – born Andrew John Ridgeley, Windlesham, Surrey, England – singer/songwriter/record producer, turns 54 today (with Wham!, four UK number ones including: “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go” in 1984, “I’m Your Man” in 1985, “The Edge Of Heaven” in 1986)
  • Finally today, Jazzie B – born Trevor Beresford Romeo, now OBE, in Hornsey, London, England – celebrates his 54th birthday. Known as the man behind Soul II Soul since 1988, starting out as a sound system before becoming a fully-fledged band, utilising the likes of Caron Wheeler, Rose Windross, and Kym Mazelle as guest vocalists. He has also worked as a producer and remixer for the likes of Fine Young Cannibals, Incognito, Maxi Priest, James Brown, Destiny’s Child and many more. “Back To Life” was a four-week number one for the group in summer 1989; prior to that, their first taste of success came with this, “Keep On Movin'”.
