This was a very calm week. Nothing crazy happened, and everything felt generally peaceful. The most exciting thing to happen was the drop in temperature this weekend. I’ve been bundling up in blankets and getting back to my writing, which is always neglected. I’m trying to find out how to stay focusedon my story when there are an infinite number of distractions, including cultivating my music of the week playlist!
Make Your Mind Up- Moon Taxi
This fits with the general feel of the week- calm, but still upbeat. I’m such a sucker for saxophone.
I Love LA- Young and Divine
This song is almost too poppy and over-edited for me, but the chorus really gets to me. It has that inspirational vibe I need when my CTA bus smells like urine.
I love the range in vocals and the choral sound of the voices in harmony. The song is just so peaceful, yet mind-opening, if that isn’t too hippy.
Venice- The Lighthouse and the Whaler
Another chillback tune- moving away from the summer vibes to the cozy vocals and easy notes of Fall. Lots of variety in sound to balance out the simplicity of Indie vocals.
Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1- Kanye West
A little something different here, but this playlist is supposed to be an honest representation of what was in my head all week. Max has been singing “Beautiful Morning, Beautiful Morning!” every day, so I had to find the original so I could have more than just those two words playing on repeat in my head. I actually really like the laid back vibes with the choir in the background. Kanye reminds me of middle school, and I love it.
Image of Lighthouse and the Whaler isn’t mine in any way shape or form.
