Savor Every Sip of Fall #StarbucksAtHome #SavorEverySip

This blog post was sponsored by Starbucks but the opinions are completely my own based on my experience.

Fall is the best. Period. End of story.

As much as I long to live in a more tropical climate during the harsh Ohio winter, I simply can’t imagine not having fall in my life. The chilly temps, gorgeous colors and delicious flavors of this season make it the one time of year I look forward to for months.

Of course, the delicious seasonal Starbucks® at Walmart flavors don’t hurt one bit. In fact, I’m just a little bit IN LOVE with Starbucks Fall Blend, Pumpkin Spice Caffe Latte K-Cup® pods and Salted Caramel Hot Cocoa K-Cup® pods, all available at Walmart. As much as I enjoy popping into our local Starbucks, I also love having my Starbucks stash right in the comfort of my own home.

I am a creature of habit and there are a few fall rituals that I just can’t live without. I find that I am really more of a morning person during fall, and I love curling up in the early hours with my journal or a good book to score some quiet time.

I also LOVE dressing warm and going outside to play with the kids in the crisp, cool fall air. It’s something we do together as a family for about an hour every evening after school.

Speaking of fall rituals, did you know that there are some steps you can take to really help you savor every sip of your coffee? It may seem silly, but trust me, if you spend a little quality time following these simple tips you’ll really notice the subtleties of the aroma and flavor of your coffee.

Steps to Develop Your Tasting Skills

1. Smell: always smell your coffee before tasting it. Your mouth distinguishes only four tastes: salty, sweet, bitter and sour, but your nose can detect thousands of smells.

1. Slurp: when tasting a coffee, it’s important to slurp it. This sprays the coffee across your palate and lets the subtle flavors and aromas reach all the tasting zones of your mouth.

3. Locate: consider the coffee’s weight and feel in your mouth. Where are you experiencing the flavors? On your tongue?

4. Describe: think about how you would describe your coffee tasting experience. Which words would you use to characterize the aroma, flavor and how coffee feels in your mouth? To what other food flavors or aromas can you compare the coffee?

What do you think, have you ever put that much thought into your cup of coffee? I challenge you to take the time to follow these steps the next time you have a cup of coffee.

My husband is a huge fan of simple black coffee, and he has really been loving the Starbucks Fall Blend. The aroma alone is enough to transport you to some of your most treasured fall memories. It’s incredible how powerful our sense of smell is.

As for me, my favorite flavor remains Pumpkin Spice Caffe Latte K-Cup® pods. I love how easy the K-Cup® pods are to use and how quickly I can whip-up my own specialty drink to savor right at home. This flavor is so extremely sought-after during the fall season that I usually buy two or three boxes while I’m in Walmart. I don’t clear the shelf by any means, but let’s just say that I don’t want to run out of my beloved Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Caffe Latte K-Cup® pods before the new year!
