1612.28 MAY THE FORCE BE WITH HER

As I sit here trying to contemplate what to write I am still numb with shock at the passing of Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher. The world were hoping for her recovery following her suffering a heart attack on a flight from the UK as she travelled home for Christmas. I am truly gutted.

I came close to meeting her once at a Comic Con many years ago only to miss out because of the crowds and the cost. I take some comfort that we breathed the same air for a short while.

She had just done a stint on British TV including an interview on the Graham Norton show and on the comedy panel show '8 out of 10 Cats'.

As a Star Trek fan in the most part my fan appreciation for Star Wars was still huge having being an important part of my life since I was 6 years old. Then there was the iconic 'gold bikini' in Return of the Jedi which was very poignant to the young adolescent I was then!

She also features in Blues Brothers, another favourite of mine. She never really topped her performance as Princess Leia Organa but that doesn't really matter, the part didn't define her - she was a larger than life personality that will be missed by many.

She will always be the Galaxy's Princess - she is forever with the force.
