Just Another Day In Paradise
Have you ever really just sat back and dreamed what your perfect day would be? For everyday to be lived that way. Live in Paradise.
Paradise doesn’t have to be the Caribbean, although it is for me…..
Perhaps yours is in the Aleutian Islands, the Northern coast of France or some far away spot that only you know of.
That’s your paradise. So how would you live it? How exciting, relaxing, adventurous, exotic, or casual would it be? Would there be any competition between you and another for who has the better life? I hope not.
As I’m exploring my own life, in my own little paradise I’ve been curious as to what do I really want. I’ve thought back and questioned some of my expectations. Peered through some of my disappointments and looked at a reality that is still being created. Honestly, I’m in awe. I’m in awe of some of the most simple things.
Like a yellow breasted Robin. I think that’s what it is. Watching monkeys swing thru the jungle in the early morning breeze. Feeling the rain in a walk through a rain on a sandy beach.
I’ve done some exciting stuff. Stuff that I had no clue about. Just did it. That attitude has shown me more of my adventurous side and I like that. Sometimes I feel I’m a bit too conservative and predictable. I have a way about me and there’s a security there.
But I had an unusual and uneventful moment this past evening that is somewhat of a watershed moment in this life in paradise. I didn’t expect this type of moment. But, it (the moment) holds me captive. A simple moment.
Just Another Day In Paradise
I was watching a movie with Andy Garcia in it last night. He played the part of the head of a cartel family…..he fits that well. Of course, I like watching Andy, he’s one of my favorite actors. Great hair too!
The scene that caught my attention was one that was very innocuous. He was sitting outdoors on the veranda reading a newspaper.
That’s it. Reading a newspaper. Later on, he held a book in his hand discussing life and loyalty.
Life doesn’t always have be pedal to the metal! Slowing down and just relaxing it a wonder to explore and allow to entice our inner being.
All around me I come across someone next to the pool reading or out sunbathing and reading. More readers than beer or tequila drinkers as a matter of fact!
I have movie flashbacks of scenes of people lounging and reading. Maybe reading is fundamental, a fundamental of relaxing in paradise.
It doesn’t seem like much, but Pay Attention to your next movie watching adventure of the placement of relaxation and reading.
I don’t recall Bruce Willis with a book in hand in any of his movies…..
I’m still battle the tendency to schedule my days……but fortunately I’m not very successful. I don’t mind not succeeding. It has its advantages when I pay attention, and when I don’t. I just don’t realize it.
I seem to have spent my life working to get to the point that I’m not working and then I seem to be working at not working!
In the midst of this, I bought another book…..by Gibran Khalil.
Sometimes just another day in paradise is in between the pages of a good read.
