Yesterday Wasn’t Too Good. I Sabotaged Myself

I have good days and then I have not so good days. Yesterday wasn’t a good day…

Yesterday really caught me by surprise. It started out being just a normal day. I was a little tired as I usually am after I’ve drunk just a bit more alcohol than I should or want. But, I figured I’m troop right on thru and everything would be fine.

One of the things on my schedule (as the French would say, ‘Program’) to do was to mow just the lawn. This wasn’t an outstanding task as the previous day I’d done half of the lawn. So I didn’t really have a whole lot to do, even though I felt (in my mind) rather ambitious.



But, when I started to mow the lawn I almost immediately recognize something just wasn’t right. I did a few rows of cutting and the grass really wasn’t too high but, I had to stop and take a break. Right when I stopped I felt even worse!

I moseyed on over to my patio and opened a bottle of water and sat down. I’m a little dizzy so I just sat there, curious. After I finished off the bottle of water and felt a bit better I proceeded to finish off the section I’d started. And, honestly……that was tough. Clearly, something isn’t right with my body!



Yesterday…



I go back to the patio with more water and sit for an extended period of time. My eyesight was…..well it was odd. Like seeing star stuff (no not aliens!)…and a bit dizzy.

There was more to do (about 1,200 square feet of lawn, the backyard) and I was trying to convince myself not to do it, just stop. But, I remembered that I would have to do extra cutting tomorrow (which is today) and I didn’t like that situation.

So, I get up and go cut the backyard. That 1,200 square feet took me two sessions and about 45 minutes longer than usual. But, I got it done and returned to my patio for more water and lunch.

It was about then that I had some thoughts as to what was amiss.

I didn’t have any breakfast and just a quarter of liter of water before starting the mowing along with not having much energy available from drinking the excess amount of alcohol the previous night. I was being a good host. That’s probably what precipitated my situation along with a heat index of 107 degrees.



Yesterday



That wasn’t the end…..things continued to get worse as my body just wasn’t in the mood for my shenanigans.

The remainder of my day as I’ve stated was not so good. As a matter of fact it was a very painful and tiring day.

Here’s the lesson I learned from yesterday. I’m not as young as I used to be (even if I were, I’d probably had the same problems) don’t take the day for granted, ease up on the alcohol, eat by at least 10am, be sure to pay attention to my hydration, get plenty of quality rest and don’t force myself to do something when my body is sending me important messages.



Simple enough!

All days are good, just some days aren’t as good as others.
