Tucked away in St Martin's Courtyard, Bill's Covent Garden is sporting a brand new makeover. Being just a short walk from my work, I stopped in to check out the new decor and sample Bill's special theatre and dinner package deal.
For those of you who have not yet had the chance to visit a Bill's Restaurant*, they are a chain who pride themselves on heart British meals within a relaxed setting. Think posh pub grub with all fresh ingredients. To showcase their new refurb at the Covent Garden branch in St Martin's Courtyard, they very kindly invited me along to sample their delights before a night at the theatre for QUIZ The Play.
Being situated in such a prime London spot, Bill's have teamed up with the Noel Coward Theatre & QUIZ The Play to create an affordable theatre and dinner package. The package includes the cost of tickets, a 2 course meal and the option of a glass of prosecco, beer or a soft drink (plus optional tea/coffee) for £45 - £65.
Usually when you're giving a set menu, I worry that there can often be little options available. Thankfully, they offer something for everyone. I, myself, opted for the Minute Steak which includes a thin cut of steak; served with onions and garlic butter and a side of hand cut, salted rosemary fries. My darling date, Fran, decided to have a gourmet fish finger burger, also served with fries. Both dishes may be simple but they certainly hit the spot in terms of stodge. For a second course, my sweet tooth called for the Chocolate Brownie - a moist brownie served with vanilla ice cream, honeycomb and Cadbury chocolate flake.

The Play
For the second part of our package, we headed across the street (and down a bit) to the Noel Coward Theatre to experience a play with a twist. QUIZ is an interactive play which re-examines the case of the Major Charles Ingram scandal on TV show, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?. The audience are presented with the evidence through a series of dramatic and comic scenes before they are asked to give their verdict of guilty or innocent. On each seat there is even a small key pad where you can participate throughout and take part in the quiz elements.
I can honestly say I've never much enjoyed the theatre but I will say that this wasn't what I was expecting. It's certainly an interesting take on a play and encourages audiences to engage and participate throughout. The audience seemed really engaged throughout and it was great to try something new.
Overall, we had a really lovely evening catching up over dinner before putting our popular culture knowledge to the test at the theatre. I absolutely loved Bill's new look, especially. If you'd like to try out this amazing package for yourself, it's available until June 16th and see full details here.
That's it for another foodie review. Have you been to Bill's lately? What are some of your favourite plays to see in London? As always, I love your reading your comments so please do leave me lots of lovely ones below. A huge thanks to Bill's for inviting us along and for a wonderful evening.
Until next time fellow foodies,
